June ‘26 faves
June was a good one. It’s officially summer. Yay! The garden at Brett’s Barn is really starting to roll out some delicious tomatoes and peppers. Wowza. And the herbs are POPPIN. I am a big herb gal. There are so many nutritional benefits and healing properties to fresh herbs. So, herb it up everybody!
As for some other favorites in June, get ready for it, because I have been loving a quite a few things.
1. First things first…coffee. Thanks to a good friend, I have found a brand that I really feel good about - Beverlin Hills Coffee. All of their coffee is super high quality and third party tested for mold. The flavor is excellent. I really enjoy the Daybreak Light Roast and the Farmhouse Blend Medium Roast. They also have some dark roast flavors and a decaf option as well. Every morning I make a steaming hot americano with some raw cream. SO GOOD.
2. I am back on the castor oil train. I used to do this about every night for many years, but I had gotten pretty lazy about it over the last few years. Also, I am not gonna lie, they aren’t sexy. So I mostly do these when Jake is on the road. I use the castor oil products from Queen of Thrones. They are extremely high quality and they explain everything very well. Castor oil helps the liver and lymphatic system to detox gently. I personally have noticed improved digestion, less bloating, more energy, and clearer skin when I am consistent with castor oil packs. I will make a post soon about how to use the pack! I will be doing these for a week straight coming off of all the things I ate over the 4th of July - haha.
3. I have been wearing Kimes Ranch jeans for a long time. They are my favorite to ride in. They are also super cute to go out in with a nice pair of boots, a white t-shirt, and some gold or turquoise jewelry. I have always gotten the Jennifer and the Lola styles, but this month I bought the Chloe style and I am LOVING them. They are mid-rise bootcut dark wash with a small Kimes logo in burgundy on the back left pocket. CUTE.
4. I love it when other people smell good, but I rarely put perfume on because I really try to be careful about what I put on my skin. I try to let my skin do it’s natural thing most of the time - our skin is our largest organ and it absorbs everything. But holy crap, I am so excited about the perfume that Uncommon James put out called Hard Feelings. It smells SO good and the best part is…it’s non-toxic. I am all about it! They also have a non-toxic Hard Feelings Candle that smells just as good. It’s Jake’s (my husband) favorite candle. He burns it in the studio during his songwriting sessions. Can’t recommend these both enough.
5. I have been through so many different protein powders in the last several years. My gut can be very sensitive to certain protein powders, so it’s been a lot of trial and error in order to find the right fit. And it ABSOLUTELY has to taste good too! I really try to stay away from any protein powders that include soy, whey, gluten, stevia, erythritol, added fillers, or too much sugar. I have found that my favorite brand to date is Be Well by Kelly Leveque. I get the vanilla or the chocolate grass-fed beef protein powder for my shakes. I also love the unflavored grass-fed beef protein for the sweet potato protein pancakes that I make often. This brand is great because the ingredients are minimal and super high quality. The pumpkin spice flavor is amazing during the fall.
6. When it comes to food, I really try my best to grow what I can and support local at farmers markets, especially in the warmer months. For meat that I can trust, I have done a bunch of research and tried several different local sources in the Nashville area. But when it comes down to quality, flavor, and convenience, I have found that I prefer to have meat shipped to our door. The Franklin market has some great options that taste really great, but I really prefer meat that is NOT finished with grain, and many of the local sources are. So, I have really enjoyed having Seven Sons Farms meat shipped to us once a month. They are a family owned regenerative farm located in Indiana. All of their meat is pasture-raised. My order usually consists of 100% grass-fed beef, bison, lamb, and pasture-raised chicken breast. They also have amazing grass-fed butter too. They are the real deal!
7. This is not a product, but it’s a really good service if you are a horse person. We recently bought a new horse from Colorado who needed to be shipped to us. Long hauls can be really taxing on horses, so making sure they are in the best hands during their travels is majorly important. We ended up using Run Amok to transport our new horse to us. They did a FABULOUS job. Great communication and our horse was very well cared for on his trip. Keep them in mind for the next time you need a horse hauled across the country.
And that’s a wrap for my June ‘26 faves! Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone had a really nice 4th of July :)
